Corner Bug

The Corner Bug (also known as Jump Trick or affectionately called "Bugsie"), which was first discovered by Jason McAllister, is a program glitch first occurring in the original Tomb Raider and returning in Tomb Raider II. Since Tomb Raider III the developers tried to crush this bug by by destroying its preferred environment. Nonetheless there are still spots throughout later games where it still works.

Pre-Conditions

For the corner bug to work you need to find the corner of a straight wall, placed at an obstacle that will block Lara from stepping over, like a drop, and enough space overhead to be able to jump up. Also there has to be a spot for Lara to land on atop the wall.

How Does It Work

1. alignment
2. first jump - leg in the wall
3. second jump - on top
The example is from the training course in the garden of Croft Manor in "Lara's Home", Tomb Raider II, near the beginning of the training level.
  1. Walk towards the corner and align Lara to she is looking straight at the edge of the corner.
  2. Jump straight up once. Lara's leg closest to the wall should now be inside the wall. (If not, realign her carefully and jump again.)
  3. With her leg in the wall jump straight up again without changing position and she should land atop the wall.
