PC and PS3 Version in September

16.07.2010 by tombraidergirl in The Guardian of Light
In an interview with Eurogamer Karl Stewart revealed, that in order to get "Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light" to be part of the "Summer of Arcade promotion", they had to make an exclusive deal with Microsoft, which demands that the game will be an Xbox exclusive for at least 4 weeks. The game comes to Xbox Live on August 18th, so PC and PS3 gamers unfortunately have to wait until September to get their hands on the game.

Karl Stewart: We hope to have details in the next seven to 10 days. As with all arcade titles, irrespective of platform, you have to go through your submissions before they agree and approve a date. Unlike a disc-based title where we can pick our window, you have to go by what the first parties approve and give you a date, to make sure you're not coming out on the same day as five other titles. They like to manage the release window accordingly. We have requested a specific date and hopefully we'll get that and it's not too long after the 360 SKU.

Eurogamer: Is there a chance that the PC and PS3 versions will release on the same day as the Xbox 360 version?

Karl Stewart: No. The agreement with Microsoft is, in order to participate in their hugely successful Summer of Arcade promotion there is a window of exclusivity. That window of exclusivity is a set four weeks.

Tomb Raider 9 - Christmas 2011?

30.06.2010 by tombraidergirl in Tomb Raider 9
According to a news article found on Eurogamer the next official part of the Tomb Raider saga, Tomb Raider 9, might come out in December 2011. Not surprising, considering the lack of news on the game so far and the fact that "Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light", which should make the wait for the next game bearable, is coming out very soon. According to rumours the subtitle of the game could be "Downfall", however, just like the previously rumoured name "Origins" it's not been confirmed. What is confirmed is, that the game will come out for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Other platforms are unconfirmed. Further, according to Eurogamer, former Crystal Dynamics employee Joel Boucquemont published some Tomb Raider 9 related artworks on his page that show a "devastated and deserted cityscape and some dark environments". It is uncertain how much of these ideas will still go into the game. His page seems to be down at the moment.

Official Website Updated

26.06.2010 by tombraidergirl in The Guardian of Light
The official website for Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light has been updated yesterday. You can choose between a UK and a US version. Flash is required.

The introduction video tells us the background story of the game and introduces Lara's new partner Totec and their rival Xolotl.

According to Aztec myth, the region we call the Yucatan is an ancient battleground where the human followers of Totec, the Guardian of Light, once waged a catastrophic war against the demonic forces of Xolotl, the Keeper of Darkness.

It is written that Xolotl called upon the power of an artifact known as the Mirror of Smoke to summon forth a horde of unspeakable horrors from the Abyss.

Totec's warriors were slaughtered in the battle that followed, but Totec himself survived. He found a way to turn the Mirror's power back against the evil god. Xolotl was imprisoned within the mirror, and the descendants of Totec went on to forge a mighty empire that lasted until the arrival of the conquistadors.

As for what happened to the Mirror of Smoke, the ancient texts are vague. Some say it was hidden in a secret place, that the mirror was lost forever. But if there's one thing I've learned it's that nothing is lost forever.
